As a Trainee Signals Technician you will learn to maintain and repair the critical signalling systems that keep our rail network safe and reliable. Working alongside experienced technicians youll gain hands-on experience in installing testing and restoring signal equipment. Safety is at the heart of everything we do and youll be supported with training to build your technical skills and confidence.
This is a practical role where no two days are the same. You may be based at your local depot with some travel and overnight stays required.

We welcome receiving applications from candidates who have basic trade skills are keen to learn enjoy practical work and can work well in a team. Youll bring:
- Electrical practicing licence is preferable
- NCEA Level 1 in Maths English and Science (or equivalent)
- A full Class 1 drivers licence
- Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
- Commitment to safety for yourself and those around you
- Physical fitness for hands-on outdoor work
It would also be great if you have:
- Previous experience in manual or technical work
- A current First Aid/CPR certificate
- Electrical registration or related training
