Job Description

Transition Program Manager


Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is growing and we invite you to apply to be part of our award-winning team!AZACS was awarded the2023/2024 National Title I Distinguished School Awardfor Arizona and the2022 YASS Prizefor education innovation.


Under the direction of the Main Campus Director the Transition Program Manager will collaborate with staff and parents to create robust transition programs for 18 to 22-year-old students enrolled in the Post-secondary Innovation and Entrepreneurial Training Center (PIECE) Program located within the Main Campus. This position will coordinate the transition classrooms and curriculum to maximize space and vocational learning opportunities. It will also ensure best-practice behavior analytic strategies throughout the transition program to ensure students are ready for post-high school options that help them become fulfilled predictive citizens.


Duties:

  • Manage materials classroom space and student data for the transition program.
  • Case Manager and IEP writer for 12 group IEPs & transition plans.
  • Teacher of record wherever necessary.
  • Lesson Plan writing for 12 groups differentiated by ability levels as needed.
  • Coordinate campus jobs for students and internal internships at the Essential Piece Enterprises Workforce Training Center (adjacent to the Main Campus).
  • Plan & oversee external internships or CBI (community-based instruction) for 12.
  • Collaborate with van drivers to coordinate transportation to CBI.
  • Write and collaborate as needed for any AZACS transition plans.
  • Coordinate Pre-ETS / Voc Rehab session presentations.
  • Arrange guest speakers related to careers & education.
  • Work in collaboration to plan and coordinate the Transition Fair in February.
  • Coordinate campus jobs for students.
  • Support families in finding community partners for DTAs guardianship lawyers group homes etc.
  • Consultant for any parents needing transition-related resources.
  • Consultant for any students needing support applying to jobs colleges etc.
  • Regular attendance is essential for this leadership position.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff on campus expectations for teachers.
  • Attend professional development opportunities as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Set up lessons and instructional activities for classroom support staff. Coaches monitors and mentors classroom support staff working with students with disabilities.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience working with older students withmoderate to severedisabilities
  • Experience working in Transition Services/Programming
  • Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
  • Ability to communicate with parents co-workers and professional contacts courteously and professionally and following AZACS guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Experience in structured teaching center-based model preferred


Required:

  • Bachelors Degree required Masters Degree preferred
  • Special Education Certification
  • Valid Arizona Special Education Teacher Certification
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Positions in this class require stooping crouching reaching standing walking fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.


Light Work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.


Working Conditions:

Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
