Status (hours per week):5-20 hours per week
General Description:
The Peer Mentorship Program is a part of the Success in Transfer and Retention for Students (STARS) projects mission and objectives which are overseen by the Project Director and Project Manager. Peer Mentors are tasked with the opportunity to create a caring space and support current NDNU students in their endeavors and goals throughout their NDNU journey. The Peer Mentorship Program creates a learning environment that includes non-cognitive development and leadership opportunities.
Specific Responsibilities/Duties:
- Meet with assigned mentees on a regular (usually weekly) basis and maintain mentee contact logs both in person and/or virtually.
- Serve as a peer liaison and refers students to appropriate campus resources both in person and/or virtually.
- Attend support and co-facilitate student-led workshops both on campus and online videos.
- Attend monthly staff meetings/professional development trainings both in person and online.
- Attend all training sessions throughout the academic year both on campus and online. Training date and time details will be given upon hire.
- Represent the Peer Mentorship program; serves on panels and provides outreach services for the Peer Mentorship program on campus and online.
- Complete all appropriate paperwork and reports required.
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Self-motivated with a positive attitude
2. Preferably have and maintain a 3.0 GPA
3. Have previous mentorship experience.
4. Ability to work with diverse groups and students.
5. Must have 1 years at NDNU and transfer experience preferred
