Job Description

Coordinate repairs and maintenance of MHE tractor units and trailers liaising with the Great Bear Operational teams suppliers maintainers & manufacturers to ensure that all repairs are carried out to the highest standard and best value and in line with legal compliance business requirements and company operating procedures and processes. Ensuring Great Bear Senior team are aware of changes in legislation that could affect operations.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 40 hour week.

This role can be based at Rugby or Lutterworth however other Great Bear locations across the midlands will be considered.

Key Duties of a Fleet Engineering Manager:

  • Working alongside the Operational teams to ensure that all temporary repairs are followed up and that full repairs are carried out.
  • You will work to the highest standard and demonstrate a sound up-to-date knowledge of MHE vehicle and trailer repair techniques.
  • Calculate costings and the time required to complete all necessary repairs.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follow repair standards in line with group branding guidelines.
  • Monitor assets that have not been repaired and liaise with suppliers.
  • Work closely with Operational teams to check cost reports to ensure that repairs are coded to the correct categories and trends are analysed and acted upon.
  • Ensure that all suppliers are compliant with method statements & SSW.
  • Responsible for ensuring Operations are aware of lease restrictions with regards to asset usage.
  • Updating business operations teams on completion of repair work.
  • Assisting with major asset repairs.
  • To be open and honest with colleagues to ensure that issues are addressed to minimise any impact on the business.
  • Ensure that all suppliers operate to the companys standards.
  • Reduce truck and trailer VOR and downtime and increase uptime.
  • Manage VOR processes across the whole fleet.

Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in a similar position within the logistics industry.
  • Engineering and/or maintenance experience.
  • Mechanical & operational understanding of trucks and trailers is essential.
  • CPC National.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or qualification is desirable.
  • CAT C E driving licence is desirable.
  • Effective planning & organisational skills.
  • Self-starter energetic hands on approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure. 
  • Open minded creative yet practical and  results focused.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages.
