The Operations Specialist is responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes work with Panther Innovations and works closely with the Panther Innovations licensing staff colleagues in the Office of Legal Affairs and the Georgia State University Research Foundation finance team.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
This position will join an experienced and dedicated technology transfer team of licensing professionals who work with GSU investigators to discover analyze protect market and commercialize innovations. The transfer of innovations to companies that can create products is how GSUs research has a real-world impact on our community and the world. The work is challenging and engaging and you will work with stakeholders across GSUs campuses and federal agencies.
The Operations Specialist is a crucial member of the Panther Innovations team and works closely with faculty licensing associates legal affairs GSURF OSPA other university partners and licensees. They handle overseeing operations of the data management system (Inteum-Minuet) patent docketing licensee invoicing and compliance legal expense tracking and federal compliance. This position reports directly to the Director Panther Innovations.
The essential duties and responsibilities of Operations Specialist are the following:
- Data Management - Enters and manages data relating to inventions patent filings patent prosecution activities agreements and finances using PIs data management system; Prepares monthly reports relating to upcoming patent activities and documents decisions.
- Finance - Monitors and processes patent reimbursements license fees royalties and other payments owed to GSURF as part of licenses and other agreements. Enters and tracks legal expense data including patent annuities. Receives and records revenue. Reconciles PI financial records with GSURF records. Processes royalty distributions.
- Compliance - Primarily responsible for reporting obligations relating to inventions resulting from federally sponsored research. Ensures compliance with Bayh-Dole requirements and reporting through iEdison. Manages PI agreement compliance program and ensures licensee compliance.
- Administrative - Schedules and coordinates meetings for team. Coordinates and plans events and training. Orders supplies and process purchases for PI. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree in business finance marketing or similar field of study and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience and/or training.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Experience working in higher ed research administration or technology transfer preferred. Familiarity with patent law the patent process or accounting a plus.
