Position Overview:

The Sample Technician plays a key role in supporting the Upholstery Engineer by assisting in the hands-on manufacturing of product samples and prototypes. This position helps ensure that customer requirements and Sales Department requests are met through the timely and accurate execution of sample builds contributing to product development process refinement and overall customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Upholstery Engineer in the manufacturing of product samples and prototypes to meet customer and Sales Department requirements.
  2. Follow detailed work instructions and specifications provided by the Engineering staff and the Upholstery Engineer.
  3. Support the setup and operation of equipment and tools used in sample
  4. Maintain accurate documentation of sample builds including materials used process steps and any issues encountered.
  5. Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Materials Scheduling Engineering) to ensure timely and accurate completion of sample work.
  6. Observe and learn various upholstery techniques to support ongoing product development and process improvement.
  7. Assist in the development and refinement of upholstery patterns under the direction of the Upholstery Engineer.
  8. Ensure the workspace remains clean organized and compliant with all safety
  9. Provide constructive feedback on sample and prototype builds to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  10. Ensure all samples are produced to the correct specifications and highest quality standards identifying and resolving any issues as needed.

Qualifications:

The Sample Technician must possess strong organizational and communication skills along with solid product knowledge. This individual should be capable of upholstering and final assembling all sample products as well as performing other key manufacturing tasks as needed.

A successful candidate will be a self-motivated proactive individual who can work independently with minimal supervision. Moderate computer proficiency is required along with a willingness and ability to learn new skills to support continuous improvement within the role.
