Job Duties
The Science Museum of Virginia is seeking an experienced proactive and hands-on Facilities Manager to ensure smooth operations behind the scenes of our dynamic mission-driven this key leadership role you will oversee the day-to-day management of the museums facilities to maintain a safe efficient and welcoming space for our guests and staff.
As Facilities Manager you will be responsible for supervising a skilled maintenance team managing building systems and optimizing facility operationsfrom preventative maintenance and equipment repairs to energy efficiency initiatives. You will develop and coordinate maintenance schedules monitor system performance implement cost-effective solutions and ensure full compliance with safety regulationsall while managing budgets and seeking opportunities for innovation.

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of facility operations including familiarity with specialized equipment and infrastructure. This role requires experience working with historic buildings specifically integrating modern technologies into a 1919-era structure to optimize efficiency and reliability. Strong troubleshooting abilities and the capability to read and interpret blueprints are essential.
A solid understanding of various trades and practical skills in grounds maintenance tools materials and equipment. Proficiency with Building Automation Systems (BAS) is also required.
Additional Considerations
Experience managing small construction projects is a plus.
