Job Summary

Colorados construction and skilled trades sector is booming fueling everything from housing and community development to large-scale infrastructure and green building projects. We are seeking our first Construction Trades faculty member to lead the way in building courses and training pathways that prepare students for high-demand hands-on careers. This is a unique opportunity to bring your industry expertise into the classroom while advancing innovative practices in the field. The ideal candidate will bring experience across multiple tradessuch as carpentry electrical plumbing or weldingand a passion for teaching and mentoring. An outstanding candidate will bring additional experience in construction management architecture civil engineering building science industrial arts or curriculum development.This position will collaborate with the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning to develop curriculumin construction trades which support pathways in collaboration with ourhigh schoolpartners.Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and programobjectives; student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental school and College meetings and functions.

TheConstructionTrades/Construction ManagementFaculty positionis a full-time 9-month faculty position in theSkilled TradesDepartment.ACCFacultyteach15 credits each fall and spring semester. Faculty may have theoptionto teach courses during the summer semester foradditionalcompensation. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods including face-to-face online computer-aided distance learning self-paced and interdisciplinary. Faculty may need to teach at anyACCcampusand at a variety of times (days evenings and some weekends).

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Construction Trades or related subfield AND has or qualifies for postsecondary CTE credentialing including 4000 verified hands-on construction trades occupational/industry hours;
OR
  • A related Bachelors or any Masters degree with 18 discipline related credits AND has or qualifies for postsecondary CTE credentialing including 2000 verified non-teaching occupational/industry hours;
OR
  • Current professional license in Construction or industry certificationANDhas or qualifies for postsecondary CTE credentialing including 4000 non-teaching occupational hours.
  • OSHA certified trainer
  • Experience teaching and/or training various subjects within the discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment working with and supporting students from diverse populations which may include but are not limited to historically marginalized communities such as people of color LGBTQ community members veterans first generation graduates and people with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a form that is appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4000 verified hours in construction management architecture civil engineering building science or industrial arts.
  • Experience with program and curriculum development.
  • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers key stakeholders or students using effective inclusive strategies.
  • Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.
  • Participate and/or lead in professional organizations committees and/or taskforces.
  • Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats.
  • Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations.

Physical& CognitiveDemands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • This positionoperatesin a standard office and/orclassroomenvironment and performs hands on instructional activities associated with construction trades. Will be expected to use materials typically found in construction trades such as lifts cranes machinery and must be able to operate equipment.

  • Cognitivedemands include comparing copying computing compiling analyzing coordinating synthesizing negotiating communicating instructing and interpersonal skills.

  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students.Mustbe able to exchangeaccurateinformation in these situations.

  • Occasionally moves positions and transports instructional equipment up to100 lbs.

  • This positions primary work location will be at ACCs Littleton campus but the incumbent may be required to work out of any ACC campus location. Travel around the service area to visit partner schools potential job sites meet with industry representatives and other locations to develop the Skilled Trades program.


Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $61175 to $76285 commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August to May). Salary will be pro-rated based on actual contract days worked. This is a full-time 9-month FLSA-except position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.AP 3-55 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments.
