Energy Manager
Salary: $81127 - $91267
Classification: Administrative/Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director of Facilities Safety & Security

The Energy Manager provides leadership in planning implementing and monitoring energy management sustainability and facilities operations strategies across the College. This position ensures compliance with Washington Administrative Code (WACs) statewide energy initiatives and environmental regulations while aligning projects with institutional goals. Serving as a liaison with Capital Projects state agencies and external partners the Energy Manager advances cost-effective and sustainable solutions that reduce energy consumption improve operational efficiency and support the Colleges commitment to environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability.

Essential Functions

  • Lead campus-wide energy management initiatives ensuring compliance with Washington Administrative Code (WACs) Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) guidelines and statewide energy efficiency and sustainability programs.
  • Oversee the planning implementation and monitoring of energy conservation measures facility upgrades and sustainability projects.
  • Act as primary liaison with Capital Projects DES architects engineers and contractors to align energy efficiency goals with construction and renovation activities.
  • Develop implement and monitor energy policies and procedures in alignment with state energy initiatives including Clean Buildings Performance Standards and greenhouse gas reduction targets.
  • Manage detailed project plans budgets and timelines for energy-related facility projects ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and state mandates.
  • Evaluate architect and engineering proposals for compliance with energy efficiency standards life-cycle cost analysis and long-term operational impacts.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams to promote collaboration and effective communication on sustainability and energy initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards building codes safety protocols and environmental regulations throughout all phases of energy and facility projects.
  • Collaborate with facilities operations teams to integrate energy efficiency measures into preventive maintenance daily operations and long-term planning.
  • Monitor energy consumption across all facilities identify trends and implement strategies to reduce costs and environmental impact.
  • Prepare and present oral and written reports to leadership community groups elected officials and regulatory agencies on project status energy performance and compliance outcomes.
  • Seek opportunities for innovation energy efficiency renewable energy adoption and process improvement within facilities operations and capital projects.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders state agencies utilities and community partners to advance energy and sustainability goals.
  • Support general operations for facilities by coordinating energy compliance reporting sustainability audits and efficiency certifications.
  • Maintain accurate project and energy performance documentation including financial records compliance reports and progress updates.
  • Provide regular status reports and energy performance dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Four (4) years of professional experience in energy management Facilities operations capital project support or sustainability programs.
  • Knowledge of Washington Administrative Code (WACs) state energy policies and building/energy codes.
  • Experience developing implementing and monitoring energy conservation strategies sustainability programs or compliance plans.
  • Strong project management skills including budgeting scheduling and contractor/vendor coordination.
  • Ability to analyze energy consumption data identify trends and develop cost-effective solutions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in facilities management sustainability environmental science construction management or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) LEED Accredited Professional or related credentials.
  • Experience working in a higher education or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with Washington State Clean Buildings Performance Standards greenhouse gas reduction initiatives and other statewide energy efficiency programs.
  • Knowledge of construction project delivery methods and experience liaising with architects engineers and capital project teams.
  • Experience in utility monitoring systems energy modeling software or building automation systems.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing renewable energy projects or advanced sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience preparing reports for leadership state agencies and governing boards.

Terms of Employment
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is $81127 - $91267 annually which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
