The opportunity
In this diverse role youll assist in both the practical and administrative sides of maintaining and managing the local roading network and associated infrastructure. Youll work hand-in-hand with our field staff to help perform a range of road maintenance tasks ensuring our roads stay safe and functional for the community.
At the same time youll play a key role in coordinating and supporting our maintenance program by using the Asset and Work Manager (AWM) software system (formerly known as RAMM). Your work will involve scheduling jobs dispatching maintenance crews and keeping accurate electronic records of completed tasks.
In addition to the above you will:
Assist with hands-on road maintenance activities including:
Pothole repairs
Drain and culvert cleaning
Vegetation and roadside maintenance
Sign and marker replacement
Other routine and reactive maintenance as required
Coordinate and dispatch work orders to reactive maintenance crews using AWM (RAMM)
Monitor progress and quality of maintenance activities addressing any issues as needed
Perform administrative tasks such as data entry compliance checks and maintaining records
Communicate effectively with field staff supervisors and contractors

Were looking for someone with:
High school NCEA L2 equivalent required
Vocational training or relevant certifications in road maintenance or civil engineering is advantageous
Good Numeracy skills
Strong attention to detail coordination and organisational skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Effective time management skills
Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications such as excel; experience with AWS/RAMM software is a plus
An unwavering commitment towards health and safety
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Keen interest in hands-on road maintenance work
Basic computer literacy (AWM/RAMM or similar software experience is a bonus)
Willingness to learn on the job and work as part of a collaborative team
