This role is part of the Marmon Rail Division and is based in either Chicago IL Office or Oakville ON Office.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Analyst is responsible for designing and developing reports dashboards and analytical tools to support business decision-making and identify opportunities for process improvement. This role involves working with large data sets to extract insights monitor key performance indicators and supporting data-driven strategies across multiple departments.
The position requires proficiency in data querying and scripting languages such asSQLandPython as well as experience withMicrosoft reporting tools includingPower BIPower Apps andPower Automate. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms particularlyMicrosoft Azure and services such asSynapse AnalyticsData Factory orFabric is considered ideal.
Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze supply chain data related to procurement inventory logistics and demand planning to identify trends variances and opportunities for improvement.
- Dashboard & Tool Development: Build and maintain interactive dashboards and automated reports using tools such asPower BIPower Apps andPower Automateto support real-time decision-making.
- Data Integration Management & Structuring: Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources ensuring data quality and consistency. LeverageSQLandPythonfor data extraction transformation and analysis.
- Process Improvement Support: Identify inefficiencies in supply chain processes and provide data-driven recommendations to enhance operational performance at the repair shops and to reduce costs.
- Collaboration & Communication: Partner with supply chain procurement operations scheduling pre-processing and IT teams to understand business needs and translate them into analytical solutions.
- Cloud & Platform Utilization: Utilize cloud-based data platforms such asAzure SynapseData Factory orFabricfor data pipeline development storage and advanced analytics.
- KPI Monitoring: Track and report on key business performance metrics.
- Data Interpretation & Communication: Ability to analyze complex reports and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organization including technical teams operational staff and executive leadership. Must be able to translate data insights into clear actionable recommendations tailored to diverse audiences.
SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:
- Ability to analyze large datasets to identify trends patterns and insights
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in SQL and Python for querying databases
- Understanding of rail industry and repair shop operations preferred
- Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
- Expertise in data visualization development using Power BI and Excel
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect organize analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding data modeling ETL processes and data warehousing
- Detail oriented with excellent organization and time management skills.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Data Analytics Business Analytics Statistics Computer Science or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data analytics or reporting-related functions.
- Experience using BI tools for data visualization and reporting.

Pay Range:
