The Medical Records Clerk supports all agency functions related to incoming and outgoing clinical records. This position preserves the security of Protected Health Information (PHI) and understands the agencys responsibility to protect it. This requires a comprehensive understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2 as they relate to the disclosure of PHI with and without client consent. This position uses communication and customer service skills to provide support and information to clients clinical staff and outside entities. This position navigates and documents in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and tracks multi-stage processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency under strict deadlines requiring excellent attention to detail.
Work is performed inside in varying temperatures. Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift to 50 pounds. May be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employees are sitting most of the time. Employee is also required to stand walk type bend write read interpret and explain complex issues and speak on the telephone.
