BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for dynamic results driven individual to join as Supplier Development Engineer - Eletronics at our new production plant in Viana Portugal.



The primary function of the SDE is to coordinate Supplier APQP activity for New Product Launch components in compliance with APQP procedures. Identify plan and implement Supplier Continuous Improvement activities via Value Analysis/Value Engineering Kaizen Lean Deployment and/or Six Sigma methodologies. Determine disposition of Supplier PPAP submissions and train Suppliers to Client expectations/requirements.


Essential Functions:
Supplier APQP
Assist in identifying high impact Suppliers
Visit new/resourced and/or high impact Suppliers to ensure APQP progress/process integrity
Serve as a roadblock remover to ensure APQP target dates are successfully met
Proactively work with Suppliers to minimize and/or eliminate Launch issues
Report Supplier APQP progress/problems to Clients Launch Team
Lead APQP Activities at suppliers.


Supplier Continuous Improvement
Initiate and Track Suppliers Continuous Improvement Activities
Work closely with Suppliers to improvement Suppliers processes with the focus of eliminating waste and driving non-value added cost out of the Suppliers system
Employ Value Engineering/Value/Analysis VIPs Kaizen Lean Deployment and/or Six Sigma methodologies to drive waste/cost out of the Supply Chain
Supplier PPAP Submissions
Review and make disposition on Supplier PPAP submissions
Assure PPAP timing remains on time and meets Launch timing objectives
Update/communicate PPAP timing to Launch Team members
Responsible for ensuring all PPAP requirements are met and documentation is up to date and on file for components within assigned commodities


Supplier Quality Training
Conduct Supplier Quality Training at Suppliers facilities to meet Clients and/or Customers specific Quality expectations/requirements
Host Supplier Quality Training Sessions at Clients manufacturing facilities
Conduct Supplier Audits of Implemented Corrective Actions Plans S.C.s and SPC Charts
Complete Quality Systems Assessment at Suppliers facility


Supplier Significant Characteristics Activity
Coordinate S.C. identification via cross-functional Team approach and ensure Supplier conformance to S.C. requirements
Responsible for ensuring quarterly S.C. data is received from Suppliers and entered into the S.C. database


Education
Bachelors degree in Engineering (preferable Eletronics/Eletrical)


Knowledge and Experience:
Automotive Tier 1 industry Preferred but NOT Required
Knowledge in manufacturing problem solving (8-D Methodology) and manufacturing processes is Required
Knowledge of TS 16949 requirements including APQP and PPAP is Required
Knowledge of SPC is Required
Strong training and or knowledge in one or more of the following areas; Kaizen Six Sigma Lean
Deployment and Value Engineering/ValueAnaylsis is Required
Proven track record in running Kaizen events is Required


Communication/Computer Skills
Effective at defining problems collecting data establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and/or concrete variables.
Proficient at developing trip reports general business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from Management and/or Customers.
Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook Lotus Notes and PowerPoint.
