The Manager VAT Consulting works with Ryans VAT Consulting team to deliver timely accurate and practical international VAT advice and assistance to both external and internal clients. Managers serve a portfolio of clients and supervise work delegated to junior colleagues to ensure that it is delivered on time and in line with clients expectations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day needs of a portfolio of clients.

  • Provide VAT technical advice and assistance to clients including advice on more complex issues.

  • Delegate work to junior colleagues in the team providing guidance training and mentoring to ensure high productivity and work quality.

  • Review the work of junior colleagues to ensure that it is technically correct and that it meets Ryans standards in terms of language and format.

  • Organise workloads and prioritise issues within the team to ensure that advice is provided on a timely basis and in line with clients expectations.

  • Actively participate in calls and meetings with both prospective and existing clients.

  • Maintain close relationships with existing clients to maximize potential for additional work.

  • Liaise with third parties including tax authorities and suppliers (local partners).

  • Review news articles prepared by junior colleagues to ensure that they are factually correct.

  • Write longer more in-depth articles to be published on the companys website or in external journals etc.

  • Participate in the preparation and delivery of marketing initiatives such as webinars and speaking engagements.

  • Review changes to legislation and administrative practice to identify the impact that these may have on our clients and our business.

  • Solicit regular feedback from client contacts.

  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times including by junior members of the team.

  • Prepare/review client and local partner fee quotes and make appropriate recommendations to senior management.

  • Manage the billing process to ensure that clients are invoiced on a timely basisand recommend billing decisions in line with company policies.

  • Prepare/review responses to billing queries from clients.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree / Masters degree in Law Management or Economics.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). Other languages will also be valued in the recruitment process.

  • Professional experience of at least 5 years in a VAT advisory role preferably with an international/cross-border focus.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates and Licenses:

No specific certificate or license.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor office environment.

  • Long periods of sitting while working at computer.

  • Occasional long periods of standing.

  • Must be able to lift carry push or pull up to 30 lbs.

  • Position requires regular interaction with employees clients and vendors both in person and via email and telephone.

  • Independent travel requirement: 5 10%
