The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location(s):

Columbus: One Nationwide Plaza Columbus OH 43215

Work schedule: 2 days in office 3 days remote.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the StemOPT Extension program.

It is our intention to fill this role in Columbus Ohio or Scottsdale Arizona. However on occasion applications from internal candidates working remotely who bring critical industry skills and relevant experience may be considered.

Financial Business Advisor Central Expense Management

Nationwide is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Business Advisor to support P&C Expense Management through insightful analysis and strategic financial planning. This role partners across finance teams to drive expense efficiency enhance reporting tools and deliver actionable insights. The ideal candidate will contribute to monthly financial processes benchmarking and project planning to help shape data-informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executes critical monthly financial processes including performance analysis and reporting package development.
  • Delivers proactive data-driven insights to influence strategic decision-making and improve business outcomes.
  • Designs maintains and enhances standardized reporting tools and presentation templates.
  • Leverages Excel PowerPoint and Power BI to synthesize and visualize complex financial data.
  • Conducts industry and peer benchmarking to identify opportunities and provide actionable recommendations aligned with business objectives.
  • Supports strategic project portfolio planning including benefit realization and validation.
  • Builds and maintains strong partnerships across finance and business teams to foster collaboration and alignment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis and expense reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel PowerPoint Power BI and other financial tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working towards CPA or CFA certification.
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry.

As an Advisor youll provide financial consultation planning and analysis for a major business operations (state product business unit etc.). This includes coordinating the development of operational forecasts and budgets and reporting on financial income loss and expense measures. Youll serve as a key member of leadership team.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Director/Officer. This is an individual contributor role.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in finance economics accounting or statistics; advanced degree in financial field is desirable.

License/Certification/Designation: CPA preferred.

Experience: Typically eight or more years financial experience including financial analysis planning forecasting actuarial or auditing. Insurance industry background desirable. Prefer at least three years project leadership management or supervisor experience.

Knowledge Abilities and Skills: In-depth knowledge of statistical/financial analysis financial statement and budget preparation. Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting practices and insurance/financial services business requirements. Project management concepts and techniques. Prefer familiarity with specific state product or business unit operations.

Other criteria including leadership skills competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring managers leader and HR Business Partner.
