Job Description
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark Vejle invites applicantions for PhD positions with a focus on Software Architectures and Mining Software Repositories. The positions have a duration of 3 years for candidates who have completed a relevant MSc degree or 4 years for candidates who have completed 1 year of relevant MSc studies. The hired candidates will be part of the section of Artificial Intelligence Cybersecurity and Programming Languages(ACP) an ambitious group that fosters collaboration research excellence and quality education.
The proposed starting time is Autumn 2025 with room for flexibility. The appointment will be made at a competitive salary and will follow the PhD study programme at the Faculty of Science.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for highly motivated candidates interested in Software Engineering topics and in the application of Generative AI in Software Engineering or in Software Architectures. The ideal candidate has an MSc in Computer Science or equivalent and experience in at least one of the following areas (acquired for example by conducting the MSc thesis).
- Software Architectures with a particular focus on Microservices and Distributed Systems
- Generative AI-driven Software Development and Maintenance
- Empirical Software Engineering
- Mining of Software Repositories and Issue Tracking Systems
Fluency in English is required.

Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow can be in different types of programmes
- The 53 programme: Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Students who have completed their MSc. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period.
- The 44 programme: Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for four years. It is for students who have not yet completed their masters degree (MSc).
