Job Description

Coordinator - Wardandi Wanil Art Centre

  • $103872 per annum superannuation
  • 24-month contract

The City of Bunbury is proud to support the newly announced Wardandi Wanil Art Centre - a creative home for First Nations artists storytelling and community connection.
Located in the heart of the CBD the Centre represents a historic first for Bunbury as a dedicated First Nations arts space in Wardandi Boodja.

About the role:
As the Coordinator of Wardandi Wanil Art Centre you will oversee the day-to-day operations and lead the delivery of artist development programs exhibitions and events. This is a highly collaborative and people-first role with real impacthelping artists create exhibit and sell their work in a culturally safe vibrant and professional environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the operations budget and strategy of the Wardandi Wanil Art Centre
  • Coordinating artist payments contracts and day-to-day administration
  • Providing leadership and guidance to retail staff to ensure an excellent visitor experience
  • Overseeing artist studios exhibitions sales and merchandise development
  • Facilitating programming in consultation with the advisory body and elders
  • Building partnerships and sourcing funding through grants and sponsorships
  • Cultivating relations with galleries institutions and community partners

About you:
You are passionate about the power of arts to strengthen culture share stories and build community. Youre confident leading people managing projects and ensuring the Wardandi Wanil Art Centre is a welcoming space for artists and visitors alike.

Youll be successful in this role if you have:

  • Leadership and project coordination experience in arts culture or community settings
  • An understanding of Aboriginal culture including cultural protocols and art
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Experience with grant writing budgeting and reporting.
  • A current drivers licence and the ability to obtain a national police clearance.
