Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting Student Ambassadors on a casual basis for 2026.
As a Student Ambassador you would have the chance to:
- Gain valuable leadership experience.
- Improve your presentation and communication skills.
- Connect with fellow student leaders.
- Get paid for your efforts.
Keyinformation:
- Student Ambassadors are on casual contracts. This means hours are irregular/not guaranteed.
- Shifts are listed on Microsoft Teams Shifts where students can sign up for them.
- Student Ambassadors are paid $27.80 per hour (gross).
- A key Student Ambassador role we are recruiting for currently is as a UNI101 peer group leader. The UNI101 programme helps students get connected with the University. You will mentor a group of students over four weeks starting from New Students Orientation week February 16-20 up to Week 3 of Trimester 1 February 24-28. This is up to 10 hours total time commitment over the 4 weeks.
- Other roles for Student Ambassadors during NSO include staffing the Information Desk during New Students Orientation week ushering sessions being on student panels and conducting tours of Kelburn Pipitea and Te Aro Campuses amongst others. You can be a UNI101 group leader and also take on these other roles.
- We usually have many shifts available during New Students Orientation in Trimester 1 and work opportunities for New Students Orientation for Trimester 2 and 3.
- We require that all new Student Ambassadors attend training at our Kelburn Campus. This will be two sessions in the first week of Feb 2026(one online and one in person). If you cannot attend the training we may be able to offer an alternative.

- What its like to live in Wellington city.
- Information about support services available to students.
- Your personal experience as a student.
We are not concerned about video quality or camera work; we simply want to see how you present to a group and what aspects of our University you are most proud of.
