Job Description
Job Summary:
Lehigh Valley Academy is seeking Instructional Support Teachers (IST) for special education grades 6-8. ISTs work under the direction of special education teachers to provide in-classroom support and small group instruction for students on a scheduled basis. This position is full-time and requires a candidate who is flexible and willing to provide coverage for teacher absences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support: Assist in providing instruction and support to students following IEPs.
- Small Group Instruction: Lead small group instruction sessions to reinforce lessons and provide additional support to students who need it.
- Teacher Coverage: Provide coverage or monitor for classroom teachers during absences ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers to understand lesson plans and instructional goals ensuring seamless support for students.
- Student Assessment: Assist in assessing student progress and providing feedback to classroom teachers to help inform instructional strategies.
- Classroom Management: Help maintain classroom order and discipline following school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Interest in developing a career in education is required.
- Experience working with elementary school students is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers staff and students.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing needs and provide coverage as needed.
