JOB TITLE:
Assistant Professor Marketing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The department seeks candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways across all three pillars of academia (i.e. research teaching and service). The person who fills the open position must demonstrate a passion for innovative experiential-oriented teaching and thus be able to contribute to the strong teaching reputation of the departments faculty. They will help students find relevance and interest in course material leading to student mastery. They should be comfortable with the integration of technological trends (e.g. digital marketing tools social media AI) to help students be prepared for todays job market. This may include teaching specialized courses in digital marketing marketing analytics or other marketing and AI-related topics. The standard teaching load in the college for research-active faculty is 2/2. The department seeks to minimize course preps for assistant professors as well as research-active faculty.
Further this professor will be expected to conduct high-quality peer-reviewed research resulting in publication in leading journals in addition to other high-quality scholarly work and thus contribute to the growing research culture of the department. They will also show a propensity for practical translation of their research helping university stakeholders see value in college research. The department will annually provide funding and faculty may apply at the college or university level for summer funding and research grants to support research. Optimally this professor will contribute to program innovations within the college along with fulfilling other meaningful institutional and professional service responsibilities. Given a PhD program in marketing in our department the ideal candidate would also be willing to engage with PhD students at a minimum by attending paper talks and supporting faculty-student interaction in possible GA/TA roles. Further the University of Wyoming is outreach-oriented and the ideal candidate will have a capability to contribute in this area. However the department seeks to shield assistant professors from heavy service demands (including to doctoral students and to the department/college/university.

The Management & Marketing Department
The Department of Management and Marketing comprises faculty of marketing management entrepreneurship sales decision sciences business ethics and business law. The Marketing Faculty have published in high-quality journals such as the Journal of Marketing Journal of Consumer Psychology Journal of Business Ethics Journal of Service Research Journal of Business Research Journal of Public Policy & Marketing European Journal of Marketing Journal of Advertising Marketing Letters and Psych & Marketing. Importantly the faculty have a reputation as innovative teachers who work with external partners to create real-world project opportunities for students. Finally the faculty have an expectation of collegiality and external partnership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
By Fall 2026 candidates should hold a Ph.D. in marketing or a closely related discipline. Interested candidates who are ABD must have completed their dissertation on or before August 2026. Candidates for the position should demonstrate potential for innovative teaching and a strong research program. Candidates must be able to teach in traditional face-to-face online and hybrid formats to students from various backgrounds. Finally candidates must show a propensity for collegiality.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A record of research publication or advanced stages of review in high-quality journals such as those listed on the Financial Times 50 and at the highest levels of Association of Business Schools journal list. Evidence of ongoing high-quality research publication potential. An excellent teaching record with evidence of innovative experiential-oriented methods including experience or interest in teaching digital marketing marketing analytics or other AI marketing related courses. A strong service record or willingness to conduct service in mentoring doctoral students and effectively contributing to college strategic initiatives.
