CLIENT SUMMARY

One of Africas leading E&P players in Upstream Oil & Gas.

JOB SUMMARY

To lead the strategic planning economic evaluation and commercial management functions of the company ensuring investment decisions business performance tracking and commercial agreements are aligned with corporate growth and profitability objectives. The role will serve as a key advisor to executive leadership and interface with partners regulators and investors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning

  • Lead the development and periodic review of the companys corporate strategy and business plans.
  • Coordinate the annual budget long-range plans and forecasting cycles.
  • Monitor and report business performance metrics to senior leadership.

Economics & Investment Analysis

  • Evaluate upstream project economics (NPV IRR payback).
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis and risk assessments for capital investments.
  • Support AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) processes with robust financial models.

Commercial Management

  • Lead commercial negotiations JV agreements and service contracts.
  • Develop and maintain economic models for pricing contract structuring and asset valuation.
  • Drive the monetization strategy for oil gas and by-products (e.g. barging offtake etc.).

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with JV partners regulatory bodies (e.g. NUPRC) and host communities on economic and commercial matters.
  • Represent the company in commercial and economic discussions at industry forums.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing team in planning economics and commercial functions.
  • Provide mentorship coaching and succession planning for functional team members

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIRED

  • Strategic thinking and commercial acumen
  • Advanced analytical and financial skills
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Familiarity with upstream value chain PSCs JVs and regulatory frameworks

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Economics Finance or related discipline (required)
  • MBA or Masters in Energy Economics / Finance (preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in upstream oil & gas or oilfield services with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong expertise in financial modelling petroleum economics and contract negotiation
