About Organization
Cloud Platform Division has the mission provisioning Rakuten Mobiles virtualized Cloud infrastructure.
Especially Cloud Infrastructure Department is responsible for designing developing deploying and supporting operation of hardware platform for core datacenter of Rakuten Mobiles virtual network with vendors. Hardware engineering design deployment and maintenance can be processed in the team all at once on the worlds first large scale production virtualized mobile network architecture. And also many activities to follow the advanced technology on general purpose server HW can be taken in parallel widely and that is the fascinate points the team can provide on the position.
Cloud Hardware Engineering Section is responsible to perform designing developing deploying and supporting operation of hardware platform for core datacenter widely flexibly and efficiently.
The purpose goals and reasons for hiring for this position are as follows:
Purpose:
To enhance the teams design and development capabilities by hiring engineers with specialized knowledge and skills.

To hire engineers with specialized knowledge and skills in the design and development of cloud infrastructure hardware.

Job Duties
This position is responsible for below.
(1) Define server HW specification research new technology
(2) Server HW parts evaluation(BMC network storage and CPU)
(3) Support production server HW deployment
(4) Support production server HW hand over to operation team
(5) Support production server HW operation
(6) Handle server HW related issue investigation identify the root cause apply preventive action and support replacement and repair if some individual failure occurred
(7) Vendor communication in above area
Work Environment
The team is responsible for the design construction and operation of server hardware that constitutes the cloud infrastructure.
As a part of the department in the division to be joined the team as a member of a 100-person organization working alongside other departments such as virtualization infrastructure networking field engineering data center operations management and project management.
HW PCB Design & Engineering Data Center Engineer etc.
Test servers in lab
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge in server and component design and 5 year experience in that area.
And also to have at least one of the following experience or skill.
Knowledge in Linux OS and device driver.
Experience in developing tool by shell script or Python.
Project experience in multi national environment using English and Japanese.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in log analysis and trouble shooting
Programming in C language
Knowledge in low power design (e.g. BIOS configuration)
Experience in server benchmarking
Knowledge in cloud platform such as OpenStack Docker and Kubernetes
Languages:
English (Overall - 2 - Intermediate) Japanese (Overall - 3 - Advanced)Employment Type
