Job Description

Primary Responsibilities
Summary The College of Education is seeking a terminally degreed (e.g. PhD or EdD candidate with at least 5 years of experience as an educator in the PK-12 setting for a faculty position in teacher preparation. This role is set (primarily at the International campus location (operations in Eagle Pass Del Rio and Uvalde. The successful candidate should have experience teaching in an academic content area (e.g. math science ELAR and/or science a demonstrable record of success as an educator a certification (in good standing) in an academic category in the teaching class and experience working with students with special needs and/or with EB/EL students. Preference will be given to candidates with EC-6 certification bilingual/ ESL certification and/or with those who are certified to work with students served in Special Education. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience as an instructional coach and/or to those who have experience in writing curriculum. Scope College of Education Faculty Duties Essential: Once in appointment the new faculty member will be responsible for performance in the areas of teaching research and service with greater attention being given to teaching and service. Daily functions will include instruction teacher candidate supervision and service in efforts to advance the quality and impact of the College of Educations mission to prepare and equip education candidates for service as teachers and in service to our district partners. Supervision Received: Reports to the Chair of the Education Department; primary duties and responsibilities will be to the Sul Ross State University International operations in the Eagle Pass Del Rio and Uvalde region. Working Conditions Usual: Eight-hour workday forty hours per week with some early or late hours depending on workload; and attendance at various university community and school activities. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
