Job Description

General Statement of Job

The position of the Director of Adult Degree Completion and Continuing Education is responsible for establishing and implementing processes that ensure exemplary recruiting and academic and career advising service in the Adult Degree Completion Program. It also is responsible for developing and implementing a robust continuing education program.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Direct and initiate efforts to expand adult education programs for Missouri Southern State University including developing industry partnerships that facilitate the program..

Serve as the universitys Prior Learning Assessment Coordinator

Actively engage and build relationships with employers and community organizations to identify opportunities for growth of the adult degree completion program.

Provide broad-based academic advising by being knowledgeable of academic policies and procedures unique to Missouri Southern State University. This includes admission major selection student course scheduling and other elements of advising.

Partner with MSSU leadership to develop and implement internal and external marketing/communications strategies.

Work with faculty and staff across campus in developing and implementing processes that align with the special needs of various cohorts to improve student retention and graduation.

In consultation with the Registrars Office and/or Transfer Guide unofficially evaluate and determine the transferability of credits.

Stay abreast of changing institutional information including admission requirements new programs and other policies and procedures.

Participate in departmental assessment processes.

Create continuous improvement and monitor program effectiveness by defining measuring and evaluating performance data.

Maintain competency and professional currency through self-directed professional reading professional association memberships attendance to conferences workshops institutional and departmental professional development programs.

Resolve complaints associated with the program.

Provide a single point of contact for the ADC program with prospective students employers community organizations and internal constituents.

Manage the ADC operations in its entirety.

Contributes to the overall success of the institutions mission by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Develop and manage a continuing education program that provides professional development encourages community engagement and builds industry partnerships for MSSU.

Education Experience and Licenses

Masters degree required.

Previous experience in academic and career advising where knowledge of federal state and higher education policies and procedures has been gained or two years of university employment in which a thorough knowledge of academic programs was required.

Experience managing adult education and/or training programs preferred.

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets to create meaningful reports.

Ability to edit and maintain webpages.

Ability to manage Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard Ultra.

Excellent organizational and management skills are required.

Ability to engage with individuals of different cultures backgrounds or experiences.

Ability to use small office equipment including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.

Ability to use computers for data entry word processing and spreadsheets.

Ability to use highly technical computer applications.
