Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced IT Project Manager (5 10 years) to lead cross-functional technology implementation projects across the utilities and energy sector. This role requires exceptional facilitation skills the ability to drive alignment across diverse departments and the proven capability to deliver complex IT initiatives with minimal oversight. The Project Manager will ensure projects are completed on time within scope and aligned with business objectives while building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
This position is 70% remote but requires travel for workshops key project milestones and in-person stakeholder meetings in Birmingham AL; Atlanta GA; and Mississippi.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & ExecutionLead the delivery of IT and technology implementation projects ensuring alignment with business and operational needs.
Facilitate the definition of project scope goals milestones deliverables resource requirements and detailed schedules.
Drive the entire project lifecycle-from concept creation through successful implementation.
Lead sprint planning daily stand-ups and other Agile ceremonies where applicable.
Maintain visibility into project status progress and deliverables for stakeholders.
Facilitate cross-departmental discussions including difficult conversations to resolve conflicts and drive consensus.
Collaborate with technical teams product owners and business stakeholders to break down complex projects into achievable plans.
Provide clear concise updates to leadership ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure deliverables meet scope and quality expectations.
Identify track and manage project risks dependencies and issues.
Develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
Ensure compliance with regulatory cybersecurity and IT governance standards relevant to utility operations.
Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Engineering or related field.
5 10 years of IT project management experience preferably within utilities energy or infrastructure environments.
Proven ability to deliver large-scale technology implementations with minimal oversight.
Strong facilitation skills-able to ask the right questions challenge assumptions and guide teams toward solutions.
Demonstrated expertise in managing cross-functional dependencies and driving execution in complex environments.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced problem-solving negotiation and organizational skills.
PMP or Agile/Scrum certification.
Prior experience managing technology rollouts in utilities or energy organizations.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements impacting IT in the energy sector.
Strong background with tools such as MS Project Jira or similar project management software.
70% remote with flexibility to work from home.
Travel required (30%) to Birmingham AL; Atlanta GA; and Mississippi for workshops project milestones and stakeholder meetings.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support project deadlines.
