Job Description
GKN Automotive is the market leader in conventional all-wheel and electrified drive systems and solutions. With a comprehensive global footprint we design develop manufacture and integrate an extensive range of driveline technologies for over 90% of the worlds car manufacturers.
Looking for a Plant Buyer (PB) to work in Procurement Dep at GKN Tochigi plant. PB will be responsible for a wide range of activities including communication with suppliers cost reduction activities through price negotiations with suppliers and VAVE activities collaboration with global procurement team change point management and project lead in cooperation with various functions in the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a plant buyer for Tochigi plant with the goal of achieving KPI for Tochigi plant Procurement.
- Strengthen relationships with existing suppliers.
- Develop competitive new suppliers.
- Negotiate prices with suppliers and set reasonable prices.
- Promote VAVE activities and reduce the costs (material logistics packaging etc.) in cooperation with plant functions.
- Supplier Risk Management (monitor supplier financial status supply risk etc.)
- Manage supplier change points and work with plant functions as a Change Management Leader to reduce supplier supply risks.
- In collaboration with Program Procurement team select competitive suppliers with good terms & conditions and smoothly launch new projects.
- Work with Global Procurement and Plant functions to resolve day-to-day issues and improve plant competitiveness.
Essential Qualifications / Experience / Competencies
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a business economics or engineering field
- Fluent in Japanese and business level in English with an international mind set.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in Procurement preferably in Direct Materials in Manufacturing or Automotive industry
- Experienced / knowledge for ISO/IATF16949 preferred
- Extensive experience with problem analysis/solving and Kaizen/lean
- Experience in global/ multinational organization overseas experience
- Computer skills in MS Office
- Having Results-oriented mind
- Self-motivated and proactive. Able to communicate actively with other functions and global team.
- Be able to travel (domestic and international)
- Available to work in Tochigi Plant
- Have Driver license in Japan
