Production Planner

Job Title: Production Planner Own Brands

This position is hybrid requiring in-office presence two days per week at the Texas Support Center currently located in Denton TX. The Support Center will be relocating to Legacy West in Plano in the late fall of 2025.

Essential Function
The Production Planner analyzes and reviews system forecasts for communication to the own label suppliers in order to drive accurate production plans / finished goods inventory levels thereby supporting 100% order flow fulfillment in stock levels and inventory turn. Responsible for collaborating with Planning and Allocation and Category management to deliver accurate production inventory planning in parallel with forecasting by SKU and / or product family for communication to the suppliers. Collaborates closely with Category Management on national or regional promotional events and with Replenishment Analyst to address anticipated changes in local markets. Tracks orders placed and monitors production plans against forecasts.

Primary Duties
35% Analytics/Reports:

• Generate and analyze forecast performance reports. Analyze statistical promotional and total forecasts using provided systems and tools.
• Determine factors impacting forecasts and act: raw material lead times QA issues etc. Manage new items increased footprint decreased footprint and end of life forecasts.

25% Production Forecasting Insight:

• Recognize and reconcile forecast exceptions. Track actuals against forecast. Maintain key metrics against goals for forecast accuracy and inventory optimization.

25% Business Partnerships:

• Internally - Partner with Planning and Allocation Category Management and the Own Brand teams to determine trends action forecasts on new products and evaluate risks.
• Externally - Partner with Own Brands vendors providing regular forecast updates review vendor inventory levels and production plans to support the forecasts.

15% Other:

• Participate in various projects with the aim of improving forecast reliability and/or the forecasting process.
• Maintain and update all vendor lead times with the aim of improving order flow and inventory turn opportunities.
  

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Bachelors degree in Math Statistics Marketing Business Supply Chain or other relevant fields.
• 1-3 years experience with distributions requirement planning and other supply chain processes such as demand planning production planning scheduling and transportation.
• 1-2 years planning and executing projects involving multiple groups across an organization.
• Experience with retail buying and vendor management.
• Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures.
• Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
• JDA experience would be a plus.
• Capability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that helps influence and shape future business decisions.
• Highly analytical with a sense of business curiosity.
• Spreadsheet database and word processing software (Microsoft Office).
• Supply chain software knowledge a plus.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements

• The work is sedentary. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers files books small parts; driving an automobile etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
