We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Portfolio Lead.
Role Purpose:
Digital Business Automation (DBA) is a global platform within the Chief Technology Office with 300 staff across multiple geographies (Hong Kong China India North America UK). We define and implement the technology strategy for critical services across the organisation including bank transfer capability and workload automation ensuring their availability recoverability and security.
As a Portfolio Lead you will be accountable for managing a suite of IT projectsboth funded and non-fundedand a team of permanent and non-permanent project managers. You will align projects with business objectives and HSBCs strategic goals ensuring strong governance transparent reporting and optimal use of resources across global teams. This role requires both portfolio leadership and technical delivery oversight with an emphasis on compliance to HSBC frameworks and use of enterprise reporting tools.

In this role you will:
Lead a team of PMs (2 permanent 34 non-permanent plus additional based on funding).
Manage the portfolio across funded/non-funded projects ensuring clear reporting and governance.
Apply HSBC Change Framework (HCF) ensuring compliance across all initiatives.
Oversee portfolio resourcing budgets and funding submissions with strong business cases.
Ensure effective use of Clarity PPM GDPM and Jira for reporting and cost modelling.
Engage senior stakeholders globally and manage risks issues and dependencies at portfolio level.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
Extensive experience in portfolio management or senior programme management ideally expanding from a strong project management foundation.
Proven track record leading a suite of projects within an enterprise/matrix environment.
Strong experience with Change Framework (HCF) and GDPM cost modelling.
Proficiency with Clarity PPM and Jira for portfolio/project reporting.
Excellent leadership skills with experience managing both permanent and contract PMs.
Strong financial management including IT budgets funding submissions and business case development.
Effective stakeholder management and communication at senior executive levels.
Experience in highly regulated industries preferably finance or insurance.
Desirable
Experience with Managed File Transfer (MFT) and/or Workload Automation tooling.
Previous exposure to Digital Business Automation platforms.
This role is based in Sheffield or Birmingham Hybrid.
