Job Description

Location: Anywhere in NSW

Period: until 30thJune 2026

The Offsets Practice and Guidance Team are seeking expressions of interest to temporarily fill a Project Officer (EO7) role until 30th June 2026. This role is a great opportunity to support the implementation of the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme whilst applying and building your knowledge of the scheme.

In this role you will assist with the development and implementation of operational policy and programs that support the NSW Biodiversity Offset Scheme.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing guidance and operational policy support to internal and external BOS stakeholders.
  • Contributing to improving the transparency biodiversity credit market data supporting local government training and support programs.
  • Assisting in the development of tools and resources for accredited assessors and other BOS stakeholders.
  • Helping to solve key issues associated with the implementation of the scheme and the Biodiversity Assessment Method.
  • Preparing and reviewing responses to BOS Help Desk enquiries and knowledge articles of relevance to the teams portfolio.

About You

To be successful in the role you will need to be a proactive and collaborative environmental professional with project management skills and a keen understanding of biodiversity policy and programs. With a background in environmental science or a related field you are someone that thrives in dynamic environments effectively engages with stakeholders and provides clear well-informed advice on complex regulatory frameworks.

You should be driven by a commitment to conservation outcomes and bring strong analytical communication and planning capabilities to support the implementation of the NSW Biodiversity Offset Scheme.

Essential requirements

Sound demonstrated knowledge of the operational and strategic requirements for the successful delivery of programs in the context of current policy and legislative frameworks.

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS)

Please read the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Protocol to understand if it applies to your circumstances.
