Job Description

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at NTU boasts well-established industry partnerships with prominent companies such as Rolls-Royce General Electric HP Inc Pratt & Whitney and Singapore Airlines. With a faculty comprising more than 90 professors it is one of the largest mechanical engineering schools in the world. Faculty members are drawn from renowned universities worldwide providing a wealth of collective expertise in traditional and emerging mechanical and aerospace engineering and in specialties including advanced manufacturing mechatronics innovative design nanotechnology and biomedical and computational applications.

We are looking for a Research Assistant (RA) to perform multiscale simulations to gain fundamental understanding of the deformation mechanism and fracture behavior of additive manufactured (AM) alloys and develop physics-based models to predict the mechanical properties.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform microstructure characterization and mechanical property testing on 3D-printed mechanical parts.

  • Develop a machine learning model for high-throughput evaluation of the mechanical properties of 3D-printed metallic parts.

  • Collaborate with other group members (including PhD students and research staff).

  • Publish research findings in reputable international journals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Science or a closely related field.

  • In-depth knowledge in metallic materials and additive manufacturing.

  • Good publication record (at least one first-author paper in international journals).

  • Experimental skills in materials characterization and properties testing.

  • Strong self-motivation and responsibility for research/work.

  • Good communication and writing in English for research work.
