Position Summary
Recovery Place Seattle is an Inpatient facility for patients living with substance use disorder who need medical detox. Registered Nurses will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of medical and clinical professionals to administer safe and therapeutic treatment to clients. The Admissions Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe and therapeutic care and coordination of services through the nursing process of assessment diagnosis planning implementation and evaluation. This position supports and promotes a recovery-oriented person-centered treatment experience through the provision of safe and therapeutic nursing services to clients by means of assessment diagnosis and care planning. Milieu management and crisis de-escalation are also integral components of this nursing role.
This positions schedule is 6:30pm-3:00am Full-Time 40 hours a week. OR A PART TIME AT A 0.4 FTE ON NIGHTS
Essential Job Functions
Primary accountability for Admissions and Screening:
Assess and screen for medical appropriateness for admission/readmission into detox.
Works and collaborates with local emergency departments and other community referral sources to screen patients on the phone.
Performs patient admissions into the Withdrawal Management Services program.
Collaborate and communicate with the Intake Department about screenings and admissions.
Provide hands on assessment care to patients during the admissions process
Assess patients medical status and refers as necessary.
Evaluate patients needs assessment and initiate care plans upon patient admission and readmission
Communicate orders to others timely to ensure timely receipt of medications and order implementation
Prioritize RN responsibilities independently or with supervision based on patient care needs unit milieu and number and classification of assigned staff available to provide care.
Collaborate with Nurse Manager Licensed Practical Nurses Providers and Clinical Team on complex nursing care issue and concerns. Effectively communicate assessment findings with physician
Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
Demonstrate respect for patient rights and maintain confidentiality per agency policy.
Provide safety and comfort for patients following nursing standards procedures protocols and treatment orders within scope of practice.
Administer medications and documents patients response following nursing procedures.
Follow agency and nursing infection control policies and procedures.
Complete patient transfer process including but not limited to sending screening and appropriate documentation to other unit/facility assigning nursing unit staff for transfer with facility informing patient of transfer completing appropriate transfer forms.
Participate in comprehensive report at shift change.
Utilize management of assaultive behavior techniques/principles when intervening with a potentially aggressive/assaultive patient.
Follow current nursing standards procedures protocols utilizing current forms.
Demonstrate respect for patient rights and maintain confidentiality per agency policy.
Follow agency and nursing infection control policies and procedures.
Administer medications and documents patients response following nursing procedures.
Monitor interactions between staff and patients/families; intervenes and mediates immediately if necessary and is appropriate.
Accountability for a patient care including ongoing assessment medication management withdrawal and ancillary medical needs (i.e. wound care ostomy care etc.) as per protocol.
Participate in comprehensive clinical pass-down reports at shift changes.
Collaborate with Licensed Practical Nurses Nurse Manager Charge Nurse Providers and Clinical Team on complex care issues and concerns.
Record patient observations and activities in patient records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure
Maintain and demonstrate a current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines
Actively and compassionately interact with patients to encourage engagement in treatment.
Apply and/or facilitate the safe and appropriate application of restraints as per policy and protocol.
Complete and document medication teaching for patients and legal representatives during hospitalization and prior to discharge
Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned within appropriate scope.
On-Call must work at least 3 shifts per month 1 being a weekend
On-Call must work at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday per calendar year
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Washington State License as a Registered Nurse
BLS certified
CPI Certification required within 6 months of hire (training provided by Valley Cities)
Experience:
One or more years of experience in nursing required
One-year experience in an acute care setting preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to work in a multidisciplinary setting giving respect to others based on knowledge and experience as well as discipline.
Tolerant of the stress of an acute care setting.
Able to interact with patients with sensitivity tact and respect as well as firmness when necessary.
Knowledge of theories of human behavior personality development and psychological and physical cause of mental disorders.
Familiarity with Washington Administrative Code regulations and professional standards governing the treatment of mentally ill patients
Working Conditions
Work is performed inside and outside in varying temperatures. Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift to 75 pounds twisting and stooping requiring upper and lower body strength. Employee may be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee is sitting most of the time. Employee is also required to stand walk type bend write read interpret and explain complex issues work on a computer and speak on the telephone.
