About the Position:
The purpose of this position is to educate and train new and current CMHHIP Medical Staff staff assigned to the Clinical Department and the Continuity of Treatment Office in a variety of curriculum classes. This position will be a unit supervisor over designated staff and/or other disciplines assigned to the COT Department. and serves as the Core instructor in Active Treatment Motivational Interviewing Basic Legal Knowledge Rational Decision Making Social Skills Coping Skills and other Psychotherapeutic and Psychoeducational curricula as determined by the Director of COT and the Chief Clinical Officer. These curricula include but are not limited to classroom and Just in Time training etc. This position assists in developing and maintaining a standard curriculum that is research-based and evidence-informed meets current best practice standards and is supported by data for the purpose of live training. This role will assist with tracking and reporting of all clinical educational programs as well as other attendance through the COT Department Tracking Systems to include group and individual training acquiring skills and attending train-the-trainer training to assist in creating and developing curriculum as determined and approved by the COT Director and Chief Clinical Officer. This position prepares for scheduled training by assuring that current materials and equipment are available organized and by assigning and leading other trainers in the provision of training. Duties in this position also include:
Training Instructor:
core instructor in Active Treatment Motivational Interviewing Basic Legal Knowledge Rational Decision Making Social Skills Coping Skills and other Psychotherapeutic and Psychoeducational curricula as determined by the Director of COT and the Chief Clinical Officer. These curricula include but are not limited to classroom and Just in Time training and other content as assigned
instructs all new and current CMHHIP medical staff and staff assigned to the clinical department and COT department for which they are qualified on a routine basis
actively provides direct class supervision consultation and teaching of co-instructors when needed
continually works with other instructors to improve the provision of training on an ongoing basis
utilizes a variety of instructional techniques including lecture role playing videos and case studies and leads educational and instructional activities
grades and evaluates class tests and exams
provides course material to students
multi-task set priorities and deliver results within designated time frames utilizing staff education and other departmental resources
Classroom Management/Preparation and Use of Technology:
informs students of learning expectations; it provides a safe and respectful learning environment. This position
engages students in the learning process encourages student participation provides opportunities for student dialogue and interaction and uses scheduled class time effectively. Ensures accurate student attendance and achievement documentation as required with appropriate signatures.
ensures opportunities for student participation collaboration with peers and course evaluation.
enhances learning and reduces incidents of distractions or interruptions to learning.
organize presentations to provide structure and learning that takes place in large and small groups.
assesses and documents any participants who fail to demonstrate skills to determine how and why and notifies the Director of the CoT Office.
notifies the Director of the CoT Office of any injuries that may have resulted from participation during training. Completes IOJ documentation and submits for follow-up
ensures proper equipment is available at the time of instruction
ensure that proper training materials and an adequate volume of materials are available in the classroom
ensure that the instructors assigned for the class are present; if not notify the Director of the CoT Office to make accommodations
meets with instructors thirty minutes before the start of class to do training assignments and discuss any outstanding issues
ensures all training spaces and training equipment (e.g. equipment appliances curricula etc.) are cleaned at the end of class according to the infection control policy
reports to the Director of the CoT Office regarding any training equipment needed
conducts debriefing with instructors during and after class to discuss what went well and what can be improved for future classes. Including: instruction on the use of projectors/laptops DVD and other A/V equipment
effectively sets up uses and troubleshoots a wide variety of educational technical equipment. Tracks and reports on all educational programs as well as attendance through the COT Department system
Supervision - Unit Supervisor:
unit Supervisor over assigned staff and matrix supervisor over Social Work IIIs/Work Leads
responsible for direction and assistance to staff assigned to the COT department while working in conjunction with the COT Department Director
responsible for working with the Director of the COT Department to ensure all training services are delivered correctly
responsible for ensuring all assignments and duties are completed and in compliance with CMHHIP policies and procedures while working in conjunction with the Director of the COT Department
provides appropriate coaching and feedback as well as direction in the moment
encourages teamwork by creating an environment of empowerment and accountability
ensures all assignments and duties are completed and in compliance with CMHHIP policies and procedures while working in conjunction with the Director of Staff Education
Curriculum Development:
attends clinical department meetings medical staff meetings and staff education department meetings to plan and discuss issues affecting training
evaluates the curriculum and contributes to modifications to better meet the needs of the staff in the units
evaluates the job performance of staff as required by policy and procedure to determine if interaction techniques and verbal intervention are being done
may be asked to attend hospital committees to discuss training and explore new avenues of training
Minimum Qualifications:
Current valid Colorado licensure as a:
2 years of experience in providing clinical oversight or clinical insight to others performance
3 years in designing adapting and/or teaching clinical curricula
