Job Description

Sphere Recruitment Solutions is actively hiring an Instrument & Electrical Engineer to join a world-class facility in Medicine Hat AB. The I&E Engineer will design and coordinate instrumentation control systems and electrical projects throughout all phases of their lifecycle including research planning execution commissioning and closeout. This role also provides technical expertise and support for resolving plant issues related to instrumentation electrical and control/safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and modify PLCs safety PLCs (SIS) DCS electrical systems and field devices for projects.

  • Size select procure and oversee the installation and commissioning of equipment.

  • Maintain instrument databases specification sheets and electrical layout/logic drawings.

  • Collaborate with Maintenance Operations and other stakeholders to ensure effective knowledge transfer.

  • Apply plant equipment design concepts (e.g. pumps reformers).

  • Manage projects across all lifecycle stages ensuring safe and successful completion.

  • Provide technical guidance on instrumentation control systems and electrical systems.

  • Support hazard assessments reliability initiatives and root cause analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes standards and procedures.

  • Mentor team members and contribute to department planning and communications.

  • Adhere to relevant standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code ISA and IEC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in industrial controls electrical engineering or a related discipline.

  • Eligible for or actively pursuing Professional Engineer (.) status or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with APEGA.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in control systems instrumentation and electrical design.

  • Strong knowledge of industry codes regulations and best practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with valve and instrument sizing software is considered an asset.

  • Familiarity with Triconex and DeltaV systems is a plus.

  • Project management experience is an advantage.

  • Previous experience in gas processing facilities is highly desirable.
