You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailJoin the Centre for IT Services as a Network Specialist and take a leading role in shaping and maintaining a state-of-the-art network infrastructure. You will oversee the design implementation and management of the universitys network systems ensuring secure reliable and high-performance connectivity to support the universitys academic research and administrative excellence.
Responsibilities:
Plan design implement and manage the universitys enterprise network infrastructure to ensure high availability reliability and scalability in support of academic research and administrative functions.
Monitor network performance proactively identify issues and carry out timely troubleshooting and optimization to maintain service continuity and quality.
Implement and maintain robust network security measures enforce access controls and ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards and institutional policies.
Lead network-related projects and infrastructure upgrades including the deployment of new technologies by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation including network diagrams configurations and operational procedures to support troubleshooting and future planning.
Manage vendor relationships monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and participate in the evaluation and procurement of network solutions and services.
Collaborate with faculty researchers and administrative departments to understand connectivity requirements and provide expert advice and solutions to meet evolving user needs.
Support budget planning and monitor the efficient use of allocated resources for network operations and projects.
Maintain and share technical knowledge and best practices to promote operational excellence continuity and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
Degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
At least 8 years of relevant experience in managing and administering campus or enterprise networks including switches routers DNS VPNs and firewalls.
Strong knowledge of network architecture protocols (e.g. TCP/IP BGP OSPF) enterprise-grade network equipment and network security practices.
Proficient in network performance tuning troubleshooting and the use of monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Experience with network automation using tools and scripting languages such as Ansible Python Perl or REST APIs.
Proven ability to manage vendors and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
Project management experience in planning and delivering network initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical users.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of implementing practical and effective solutions.
