A Brief Overview
The Dosimetry Manager oversees the dosimetry operations ensuring that staff follow approved standard work and procedures in developing treatment plans for patients with cancer and other serious illnesses. The Dosimetry Manager is responsible for planning daily dosimetry operations developing and leading the dosimetrists in conformance with departmental and Stanford healthcare goals. The position develops service criteria for the dosimetry group and monitors the quality of care provided. He/she identifies and implements strategies to manage costs and improve service effectiveness and productivity. The position promotes and maintains physician and administrative partnerships by managing change effectively and establishes collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff and physicians. As a working manager he/she performs manages and assigns work (including urgent and emergent patients) to the dosimetrist group. The position participates in and provides external beam and Brach therapy dosimetry training for the clinical and physics residents. The position also evaluates and implements isodose planning for new treatment techniques and modalities. The position serves as a member of the radiation oncology department performance improvement committee. As a member of the management team he/she is a leader and is expected to uphold the mission vision and goals of the department.
What you will do
Manages the development of new processes and procedures including selection of new or replacement equipment learning and training with new software and identification of optimal usage.
Performs management duties such as assigning and overseeing work and conducting employee performance reviews.
Provides consultation for dosimetric aspects of clinical research; participates in the development of publications and presentations.
Provides on-the-job training for dosimetrists therapists and other assigned personnel.
Sets staffing standards and ensures that a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons are available to provide care that is safe and service oriented.
Manages the development of detailed instructions by the dosimetry group for administration of daily radiation treatments; supervises the encoding of treatment instructions and parameters into patient treatment records by the dosimetry group.
Oversees the execution of isodose plans developed under the direction of the radiation oncology faculty; optimizes isodose plans by recommending beam qualities directions and weightings and other treatment strategies.
Supports professional growth of dosimetry staff through identification of learning needs. Designs appropriate development plans and facilitates learning activities.
Trains and orients new Dosimetrists plans organizes schedules assigns and reviews work; provides input to the staff dosimetrist with respect to performance evaluations.
Performs external beam and brachytherapy isodose planning.
Assists in tumor localization (set-up) procedures using visual analysis of anatomical landmarks X-ray films computerized tomography (CT) scans and ancillary studies.
Oversees the preparation of cast or molds for immobilization and/ or for equalization of dose distributions.
Oversees with the calculation of brachytherapy procedures either alone or in conjunction with external beam radiation therapy.
Consults with radiation oncology faculty in the development of isodose plans.
Documents treatment planning processes and other needed information for the Dosimetry Group.
Integrates the Dosimetry operation with the hospitals primary functions by supporting organizational mission priorities and goals and by delivering optimal quality health care services.
Develop computer-generated tools
Education Qualifications
Associates or bachelors degree in Radiation Therapy.
Certification of completion/graduation from an accredited dosimetry program
Experience Qualifications
Five (5) plus years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of principles methods equipment and theory of the practice of clinical specialty.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $91.60 - $121.38 per hourThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
