We are currently recruiting a Facility Engineer to join the NTU Animal Research Facility team located at the Research Support Building main NTU Campus. The facility is licensed by the Animal and Veterinary Services at NParks and houses various lab animal species used for research purposes by the NTU scientific community.
The ARF Engineer role is an integral part of a diverse team of dedicated lab animal technicians and vets and ensures the facility complies with all the regulatory requirements of the Ministry of Manpower relevant for the inspections and maintenance of equipment and ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations. This role requires experience and competence in mechanical engineering required for efficient and timely management of the ARF equipment and operating systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations and overall functioning of the facility (monitoring systems equipment and machinery) and ensure environmental parameters are within the set range.
Perform regular inspections and assessments of facility equipment and systems critically analyse and rectify any suboptimal conditions.
Develop implement and maintain maintenance policies and programs (autoclaves animal drinking system fire protection systems steam generators pest control systems security systems Building Management System (BMS) gas cylinders/pipelines HVAC/ACMV systems and uninterruptible power supply (UPS)).
Coordinate maintenance vendors to ensure compliance with NTUs policies industry standards and contractual obligations. Draft maintenance and specialist contracts and procure them on a timely basis.
Participate in 24-hour emergency response operations related to lab safety and security.
Address requests from the research users pertaining to setting up of the equipment modifying the layout for running of the experiments and any other requirements.
Help with budgetary requirements for maintenance and running/operations of the facility infrastructure and equipment. Assist with the associated claims and procurements for the facility.
What we are Looking For:
Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in the maintenance and management of ACMV systems BMS security systems and other infrastructure in biomedical research environment or other critical facilities such as in hospitals or hotels.
Good understanding of safety regulations and guidelines as stipulated by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
Possession of a Fire Safety Manager Certificate is an added advantage.
Physically able to climb ladders work in confined spaces and use personal protective and respiratory equipment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and organizational capabilities.
Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
Self-motivated capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a diverse team setting.
