About the job and your team

We are seeking to hire a Holding Controller based in Rotterdam the Netherlands.


Hydros Office in Rotterdam the Netherlands is of strategic importance for Hydro being the owner of a.o. Hydros mining smelting and production operations in Brazil the joint venture in Qatar and the alumina trading business operated out of addition a major part of the aluminium products of the Hydro Group are transported through the Rotterdam harbor and Hydros office in Rotterdam has a central role in the compliance processes related thereto.


The holdingcontroller will work with different business areas as well as with Hydros Head Office in Oslo Norway. Since Norsk Hydro Holland B.V. is VAT representative for several foreign group companies the VAT reporting and related compliance processes for these group companies are part of the responsibilities of the controller as well. The office in Rotterdam serves as focal point for questions between the stevedoring companies and the relevant group companies.


The controller will become part of a small and dedicated team working closely together with all members of the team as well as with colleagues in other international teams.

You will work on

  • Support Head of the Dutch Corporate Office with financial evaluations and technical accounting expertise
  • Advise board of directors and present financials analyses and forecasts to the board of directors
  • Responsible for monthly financial compliance and reporting both internally (focal point for Group Accounting) and externally (i.e Dutch central bank reporting)
  • Responsible for VAT compliance of the Dutch and foreign group companies including related compliance processes (IC-listings statistics etc.) as well as VAT filings ofHydros non-Belgian companies in Belgium
  • Responsible for the administration and financial reporting of the Dutch companies located in Rotterdam (monthly/quarterly/annually)
  • Treasury review and local cash management
  • Prepare statutory reporting of the Dutch companies
  • Prepare budgets and cost planning
  • Review and execute salary payments and calculations
  • Assist with income tax matters and Transfer Pricing documentation
  • Monitor and update VAT process documentation and process improvements for Hydros foreign group companies
  • Interact solve issues and communicate with internal and external parties (advisors banks authorities etc.)

Your qualifications and skills

  • Degree in Economics or Accounting
  • Fluent language knowledge in Dutch and English
  • At least 8 years of work experience in big four or multinational in a similar role
  • Extensive accounting skills (IFRS Dutch GAAP)
  • Able to switch between group reporting tax accounting and statutory accounting
  • Comprehensive expertise in SAP Hyperion and Excel with general interest in Digital Development of processes
  • Self starter pro active
  • Committed to delivering exceptional service and maintaining high quality standards
  • Good communication and networking skills
