Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Development Services department at Cache County Corporation is accepting applications for a Countywide Planner II to work with a team of dedicated professionals to help build our community.

This is a full-time benefited position generally working Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All benefits start on the first day! Medical Dental Vision Life 401k Utah Retirement System 14 paid holidays and 18 days of Personal Leave in the first year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Countywide Planner II you will perform moderately complex community and regional planning work related to long-range planning and development land use and transportation studies community design zoning laws regulations and ordinances and other planning functions as they affect the growth and development of communities throughout the County.

The Countywide Planners duties include but are not limited to:

Actively managing and implementing the Cache County General Plan.

Preparing updating amending and implementing long-range planning documents and reports.

Coordinating with participating entities such as municipal jurisdictions State and Federal agencies utility providers and special service districts;.

Meeting with participating entities to assist in resolving land use and development issues including providing technical assistance with regulations ordinances and other land use-related issues.

Engaging communities in regional collaboration through small-area planning studies and training including community/urban design and transportation studies.

Providing and creating urban design work and mapping as part of a small area or regional planning.

Coordinating with other County departments and divisions including Trails Public Works GIS etc.

Coordinating and preparing Cache Open Space Advisory Committee agendas applications minutes meetings and site visits ensuring the committee is organized and meets public meeting requirements.

Preparing and presenting special studies or plans to solve issues relating to long-range planning general plans and land use development regional planning or other planning and zoning issues policies and concepts.

Providing front desk administrative and customer support assistance as needed.

Providing research and analysis to the Planning Manager with specific recommendations for development standards planning objectives and evaluation criteria especially as it relates to the Land Use Development Management Act (LUDMA).

Writing or assisting in writing various ordinances and regulations relating to development controls; may assist in monitoring ordinances and making recommendations for updates or amendments.

Applying knowledge and expertise in a focus area such as sensitive lands ordinances subdivision regulations economic development General Plan Development or similar specialty.

Interpreting and applying applicable State County and local codes ordinances and regulations.

Preparing information and giving presentations to the County Council planning commission cities and other agencies concerning long-range planning or zoning issues; answering technical questions.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in urban or rural planning public administration landscape architecture civil engineering or closely related field; AND Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
