The Sr. Financial Analyst will be developing to the position of Controller within 2-4 years
The role of Sr. Financial Analyst will make a major impact on Treks business across Europe taking responsibility for the biggest lines on the P&L Cost of Goods & Variances and Delivery & Distribution. You will develop & deliver robust processes great analytics and story telling and ultimately increased profitability through better understanding and robust challenge.
Delivery & Distribution (D&D)
- Be the Business Partner to the Europe Logistics Manager overseeing 5 million in facility costs and 10 million in carrier costs supporting Treks businesses across Europe
- Support and participate in the negotiation of carrier tariffs ensuring thorough evaluation of value for money
- Ensure all freight tariffs are easily understood by General Managers across Europe and suggest frameworks to recover costs through partial on-charge to customers
- Develop strong processes and tools to ensure completeness & accuracy of charges from carrier and accurate accruals
- Support continuous improvement through the logistics activities to drive efficiency & effectiveness
- Ensure inventory is appropriately controlled and accounted for including robust timely 3-way matches cycle counts tight controls of warehouse inventory movements obsolescence reserves etc
- Perform monthly close activities including accruals prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Present and challenge the monthly departmental costs and inventory variances to the Europe Logistics Director
- Own the annual budget and monthly reforecast for warehousing and inventory logistics expenses
Inventory Cost of Goods & Variances (COGS)
- Managing inventories inventory reserves and inventory related accruals
- Timely reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts of inventory and inventory related processes
- Develop strong processes & tools to drill down into product cost variances (price duty freight & shrinkage) and drive action to explain and reduce variances
- Proactively seek out opportunities for lower cost or higher margins through the business
- Improve processes to align Langdon duty mgmt. systems with governmental guidelines; align ERP with Langdon
General
- Take on a variety of financial & reporting tasks across the wider ECO & Benelux businesses as part of the wider finance team
- Provide the wider European Central Office and Benelux Sales team with analytical support
- Continually audit finance processes across the ECO team to identify simplification automation & streamlining opportunities
- Continuously seek potential cost reductions across operations
- Deputize for the Benelux & ECO Controller
Business partnering
- Act as primary liaison for the Europe Logistics Director of all financial challenges
- Act as primary liaison with HQ team in USA on all Costing and Inventory variances
- Act as primary support for the European controllers to explain D&D and COGS impacting their businesses
- Act as primary liaison for the European management team on D&D and COGS matters
Skills
- Bachelor degree in accounting or finance
- Advanced spreadsheet skills
- Excellent critical thinking and strong analytical skills
- Cross-border experience and familiarity with intercompany processes
- Knowledge of VAT and other regulatory regimes preferred
- Good understanding of internal control and financial reporting in a mid to large company environment
- Extensive knowledge of ERP systems; JDE is preferred
- First class communication skills in both Dutch and English
