Position Summary
The Theatre Production Specialist works in one of the following production areas within the Department of Dramatic Art: stage management scenic carpentry props carpentry/crafts costume shop sound or electrics. Assignments are based on the candidates experience and expertise. Responsibilities may also include backstage production or run crew duties as determined by the Production Manager. Day-to-day tasks vary by department and may include: -Managing rehearsal and performance processes -Interpreting technical drawings and cut lists from the Technical Director -Executing stagecraft techniques under the direction of the Technical Director or Scenic Artist -Procuring building or refurbishing props -Cutting draping or stitching costume pieces under the Costume Designer or Costume Crafts Artisan -Recording or editing sound cues under the Sound Engineer/Designer -Pulling hanging cabling or focusing electrics under the Master Electrician The Theatre Production Specialist will work closely with undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Dramatic Art.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Experience in theatre production in the assigned technical area or equivalent combination of training and experience: -Technical and artistic skills in the assigned area -Ability to interpret technical drawings and use specialized tools and machinery.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
B.A. or B.F.A. in Theatre with an emphasis on technical production and previous supervisory experience and/or experience working in an academic environment.
