Job Description

School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) is seeking a research engineer (RE) passionate about spearheading the discovery of new physics in emerging materials especially pertaining to the development of compact high-brightness X-ray particular the RE will explore techniques to miniaturize particle accelerators in free-electron-driven X-ray sources. Our objective is to realize features currently available only in large scale X-ray facilities in a table-top setup. Compact high quality X-ray sources have potential applications in industrial inspection medical imaging and treatment forensics security inspection and would also have a transformative impact on fundamental science (where X-rays have been responsible for >25 Nobel Prizes in Physics Chemistry and Physiology/Medicine). Our research takes place at the boundary of quantum optics particle waveshaping and nanomaterials. Read more about our work at our group website Responsibilities:
