Job Goal:The assistant athletic trainer will work to provide prevention evaluation documentation education immediate care referrals coordination of care of athletic injuries and communicating with coaches athletes and their parents for middle school/high school interscholastic and club high school athletes. Health care will be rendered to all students no matter what religion race gender and/or sex
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain records of injuries treatments and provide insurance claim forms of sports injuries treated by physician
- Develop and maintain inventory records for supplies and equipment
- Continually reassess students for symptoms and progress in healing
- Determine an individuals readiness to participate in athletics
- Implement comprehensive emergency action plans
- Develop injury and illness prevention strategies
- Provide for on-site recognition evaluation and immediate treatment of illnesses and injuries both acute and catastrophic;
- Facilitate and perform rehabilitation and reconditioning;
- Provide athletic training services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician and in accordance with state athletic training practice act;
- Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the team physician;
- Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games. If a conflict arises between an away varsity football game and a home contest the varsity football event will supersede;
- Act as liaison between familys physicians and specialists the school district athletes and their parents;
- Schedule and be present for pre-participation sports physicals and preseason meetings;
- Provide the coaches and athletic director with a list of athletes medically eligible to compete under district and state rules and regulations;
- Act as liaison between students families teachers and school nurses;
- Responsible for sharing of information with teachers staff nurses and parents;
- Collaborate with PCPs and medical specialists;
Other Responsibilities/Duties:
- Instructor of CPR/AED/First Aid for SPS teachers staff and students
- Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment to enhance/benefit the sports medical program
- Some administrative duties for athletic department
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree from a CAATE accredited program
- 2 years of experience/clinical experience
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification
- BOC certification
- Licensed in the state of Massachusetts as an Allied Health Professional
- NATA member and in good standings with NATA
