Job Description
The University of Nevada Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 in the Office of Student Conduct. This position provides administrative support to the Assistant Dean Student Conduct and serves as the first point of contact for all visitors to the office. This position requires strong proofreading skills and attention to detail are essential for preparing accurate correspondence reports and case documentation. This role will require a high degree of professionalism discretion and the handling of sensitive or potentially alarming subject matter.
Primary duties include:
Managing the Assistant Deans calendar scheduling meetings and coordinating appointments.
Cooperation and collaboration with other campus and community stakeholders will be customary.
Assessing the importance and urgency of student and faculty issues submitted to the Office of Student Conduct whether communicated in writing or verbally.
Preparing proofreading and finalizing correspondence reports and case documentation.
Creating organizing and maintaining documents records and files related to student cases all of which are protected by FERPA and contain confidential information.
Maintaining oversight of daily office activities in a fast-paced environment.
Performing record keeping and reporting associated with grants department accounts and other program information.
Adhering to deadlines and federal reporting mandates.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll travel claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
This position requires excellent customer service written communication and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in technology particularly the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word Excel Outlook etc.).
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27
In classified service salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment the candidates qualifications internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
