As a Research Engineer you will:

  • Conduct experiments at the Institute to achieve project objectives along or with other team members of the perpetual pigment project team specially the RE manufacturing and complete milestones in a timely manner.
  • Carry out formulation development with industry partners if necessary visiting their sites.
  • Analyse experimental data prepare reports and present findings to the project team and external stakeholders.
  • Help generate innovative commercially viable pigment-based product solutions and assess their applications and intellectual property potential.
  • Engage with a vibrant research team at the Institute for Frontier Materials building partnerships with industry and the wider community.

To be successful youll have:

  • Honours or higher degree in textile technology chemical engineering materials science chemistry or a related discipline with a passion for applied research.
  • Hands-on experience in colour measurement matching pigment printing dyeing and ink/paint formulation especially with colour and fastness characterisation.
  • Strong background in material characterisation techniques with the ability to design test standards analyse data and generate practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within interdisciplinary teams including collaborating with industry and research partners.
  • Excellent organisational communication and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated commitment to high-quality lab practice and research reporting.
