An Executive Assistant (EA) is the backbone of any high performing leader and their team. This unique position takes this vital support role to a whole new level. Working for the Labour Chief Whip Glen Bennett MP and the Whips Office team we are looking for an experienced multi-tasker who can navigate complex environments. Typically speaking EA tasks are wide and varied. Based in the Parliamentary Precinct in Wellington for 40 hours per week youll be working to support the very machinery of AotearoaNew Zealands democracy.

Joining the team will see you being a committed part of Labour Whips Office wider team of colleagues who are based in Parliament providing exceptional support. The ability to build strong and trusted relationships is key to being successful in this role.

You will be well-known for your agility initiative and attention to detail in responding to competing priorities. You will be able to uphold a high level of confidentiality on any matter with discretion and an earnest presence of mind.

It goes without saying that youll have highly developed administrative capability with the ability to work proficiently across the MS Office suite to be able to create populate and manage databases maintain files and uphold process and other systems as required.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service you will be politically impartial in performing your role.

Ng haepapa Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high standard of administrative support to members of Parliament.
  • Carry out any special tasks/projects as directed by the Whips.
  • Support the Whips team to manage caucus events.
  • Respond to correspondence and emails and escalate correspondence where required.
  • Coordinate administrative activities including for meetings functions and events collating invitations arranging facilities and catering.
  • Provide support for financial processes.
  • Ensure members of Parliament are in possession of the required materials for meetings which may include Select Committee.
  • Prepare and circulate agendas attending as required taking minutes and following up on actions which arise from meetings.
  • Organising travel.

The pay band for the role starts at $70000 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for members of Parliament are employed on an events based agreement with your employment linked to Labours Chief Whip Glen Bennett MP. This role is based at the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington for 40 hours per week.
