AEMOs Forecasting division is responsible for providing medium and long -term forecasts of Australias energy supply and demand. The team is responsible for delivering critical data that underpins many of our major reports including AEMOs Electricity Statement of Opportunities Gas Statement of Opportunities and the Integrated System Plan.

About the role
As a Senior Data Scientist/Data Analyst in Demand Forecasting working in a team of seven youll deliver medium to long-term (130 year) forecasts of electricity and distributed energy resources. Using machine learning (ML) predictive models time series deep neural networks and engineering methods youll produce forecasts at both regional and local levels.
Youll develop key forecasting models interpret data to provide strategic insights apply technical and regulatory expertise and contribute high-quality reports. Youll also enhance AEMOs forecasting of trends like electrification demand flexibility data centre growth (Artificial Intelligence - AI/Large Language Model - LLMs) and evolving consumer patterns.
