About the role:
We are looking for a Senior Staff Product Manager to work on the worlds most adopted open source API gateway
Kong is a fully distributed team with an HQ office in San Francisco. This role is for in presence work at the Shanghai office.

In this position you will be the product lead for the core of the Kong Gateway built on a stack that is heavily based on Nginx and OpenResty.
Your focus will be on new feature development and improvement of stability and performance.
APIs run everything. Kong runs APIs providing the first unified yet modular API platform trusted by 700 customers of all sizes across all industries to
manage APIs securely across any cloud team gateway protocol
or architecture from one place.
Open source is important but so is business. Kong is a Gartner Magic Quadrant leader (5 years in a row) with $100M ARR. If you join the team youll be part of the rocket ship that is defining an industry.
What Youll Be Doing:
- Work with Engineering to keep improving feature set performance and stability of the best API gateway in the market.
- Build a data-informed product roadmap defining priorities and overseeing the success of customers using Kong Gateway and Konnect.
- Work directly with customers to make them successful with our current features and get feedback on proposed roadmap items.
- Craft and implement go-to-market strategies including field enablement and community feedback.
- Act as a technical advocate delivering presentations and promoting Kongs full-lifecycle API management capabilities.
What Youll Bring:
- Empathy curiosity and a willingness to try new things.
- 6 years of software product management experience with demonstrated experience working on complex technical products.
- The ability to get hands-on with technical products such as Kong and Konnect and debug when things dont quite go to plan.
- A strong knowledge of API management and/or cloud services and infrastructure hosted on the cloud.
- Exceptional communication skills capable of articulating complex technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Adaptability and agility in a fast-paced and evolving technology landscape with a keen eye for emerging trends and technologies.
