We are seeking a friendly knowledgeable and motivated Parts Counter Person to assist customers and service technicians with purchasing the correct parts for vehicles. This role involves working the retail counter supporting the shop and handling phone inquiries.
Provide prompt courteous and professional assistance to all customersretail service and body shop.
Help customers identify and select appropriate parts suggest related products and inform them about current promotions.
Answer incoming calls give accurate price quotes and offer detailed product information.
Review repair estimates to ensure accuracy of parts and pricing.
Pull and fulfill parts orders from inventory.
Track and order out-of-stock or special-order parts as needed.
Notify service advisors body shop and customers when special orders arrive.
Prepare parts for delivery tagging them with job numbers and customer names.
Monitor and follow up on back-ordered parts.
Maintain and replenish assigned inventory.
Support outside sales team with parts orders and requests.
Ensure proper billing and documentation of all internal and external sales.
Receive payments and ensure charge sales are properly authorized.
Process returns and issue credits in accordance with company policy.
Track and issue tools requested by technicians.
Maintain clean organized and efficient front and rear counter areas.
Set up parts for shipping delivery or customer pickup.
Contact assigned accounts to solicit orders or check in regularly.
Keep records organized including invoices repair orders estimates and special orders.
Stay updated on new products manufacturer updates and promotions.
Participate in regular training programs and company meetings.
Assist with tracking lost sales and identifying inventory trends.
Maintain a professional appearance and uphold dealership standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Automotive parts experience preferred.
BMW experience a plus.
Combination of experience and education will be considered:
Technical school certificate or college coursework.
16 months of related experience and/or training.
Skills:
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to read and understand estimates parts diagrams and technical documents.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management systems.
Good mathematical skillsability to calculate discounts percentages and totals accurately.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Language:
Able to understand and communicate clearly in English (verbal and written).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand walk and lift parts (up to insert weight limit) throughout the day.
Must be able to perform tasks in a shop and office environment.
