A Head of Mechanical Engineering isa leadership role responsible for overseeing the mechanical engineering department within an organization.This position involves managing the design development testing and maintenance of mechanical systems and products as well as guiding and developing a team of engineers.Key responsibilities include strategic planning project management and ensuring the departments work aligns with the overall goals of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership:Leading and managing the mechanical engineering team including hiring training and performance management.
- Project Management:Overseeing the progress of mechanical engineering projects ensuring they are completed on time within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Strategic Planning:Developing and implementing long-term strategies for the mechanical engineering department including identifying new product opportunities and establishing policies and procedures.
- Technical Oversight:Providing technical guidance and support to the engineering team ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Collaboration:Working with other departments (e.g. electrical software civil) to ensure the successful integration of mechanical systems and components.
- Budget Management:Managing the budget for the mechanical engineering department including resource allocation and cost control.
- Innovation:Driving innovation within the department staying abreast of new technologies and trends in mechanical engineering.
- Quality Assurance:Ensuring the quality and reliability of mechanical systems and products through rigorous testing and analysis.
- Compliance:Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Problem Solving:Identifying and resolving technical issues that may arise during the design development or operation of mechanical systems.
