Job Description
The University of Iowa Campus Safety is seeking a Security Officer to be located at the Stanley Museum of position is responsible for patrolling assigned area on foot to ensure protection of building occupants as well as property and equipment in addition to controlling and monitoring the access in and out of the building.
This position is performed fully on campus.
Duties to include:
- Check museum galleries and surrounding areas
- Assist/direct staff students and visitors
- Reporting discrepancies and hazards and notifying museum staff and police.
- Use of portable radio communication body cameras and departmental vehicles
- Use of alarm systems and video surveillance cameras.
- Traversing building inside and outdoors in all weather conditions

Schedule: Hours will be on a Wednesday through Saturday schedule:
Wednesday: 7:30AM-5:30PM
Thursday: 10:30AM-8:30PM
Friday: 7:30AM-5:30PM
Saturday: 7:30AM-5:30PM
Overtime opportunities available for special events and athletic events as well as additional department needs.

The University of Iowa Campus Safety is responsible for emergency response on the University of Iowa campus. Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Two years experience in security and safety or
- One year of post-high school education related to security and safety and one year of experience in security and safety or
- Two years of post-high school education related to security and safety.
- Possession of valid drivers license
- Ability to obtain Certified Protection Officer certification from the International Foundation of Protection Officers within 6 months of hire and maintain certification for duration of employment.
Special Qualifications:
- Valid Drivers license is required and ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Ability to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with the public that fosters good relations.
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Effective communication skills oral and written to interact with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
